Prophecies Being Fulfilled As We Approach the Rapture

Male silhouette and blackboard with words, "what's next." Prophecies being fulfilled.

Some teachers say that no prophecies are being fulfilled right now in the church age and that the next fulfillment of prophecy will be the rapture of the church. I think this is an overstatement of the case. There are prophecies currently being fulfilled, but only the kind that are either general or implied. Since the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD, no prophecy has been fulfilled in the church age which involves a definite event at a definite point on a timeline of fixed prophetic points. And that prophecy was focused on the nation of Israel. It doesn’t tell us anything about the church or the church age.

The only church prophecy in the church age that will be a definite event at a definite point on a timeline—the only one since its birth at Pentecost—will be the rapture of the church. This is by design. God’s prophetic calendar is based on Israel. The church age is merely a parenthesis between the 69th week and God’s return to Israel in the last days. We are not God’s earthly people. We are God’s heavenly people.

That being said, let’s briefly examine the general and implied prophecies that are being fulfilled in our day, prophecies which must necessarily be fulfilled before the strict fulfillments can be fulfilled.

The first class of prophecies being fulfilled are the prophecies of end-times moral trends. For example, 2 Timothy 3:1-5 addresses the general character of society and the church in the last days.  “In the last days, perilous times will come for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power.”

While such traits have always manifested themselves in society, this religious pretension is overrunning the church. Whole segments of the church brazenly preach the self-love gospel and the prosperity gospel. Vast swaths have maintained a superficial whitewashing of Christianity while having their heart and life filled with the defilements of the world. This erosion of character in the last days was predicted and is being fulfilled before our very eyes.

2 Peter 3:3 addresses the intellectual unbelief of the last days.  “Scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.  For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.”

Over the past few decades, the percentage of people in society who mock the reality of the second coming and deny the historicity of the flood has skyrocketed.

2 Timothy 4:1-3 addresses last days opposition to the institution of marriage and the institution of meat.  “In the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.”

The sexual revolution is making traditional marriage between a man and a woman passé, and the surge in the popularity of veganism and vegetarianism is casting shade on eating meat (animal flesh), a gift that God gave man for a permanent blessing. These and similar trends will continue until America is like Sodom and Gomorrha in her morality and she has cast off all of God’s moral restraints and rejected all of his institutions.

These trends of cultural apostasy are all ramping up. America is walking away from her Judaeo-Christian heritage and embracing paganism and atheism.

The second class of prophecies being fulfilled involve the geopolitical stage-setting that is preparing the world for the last days proper after the rapture of the church:  the Psalm 83 War, the Ezekiel 38-39 Gog and Magog invasion, the 1st seal with the rise and reign of the antichrist, signing of the treaty that inaugurates the seventieth week, the antichrist and the mark of the beast.

The first such event and the most commonly acknowledged is the rebirth of Israel. While no prophecy states that Israel would become a viable political entity again, dozens of prophecies assume that Israel will be a nation again in the last days. This in fact came to pass on May 14, 1948.

The collapse of the Soviet Union and the rise of Russia, Iran turning away from being an American ally, and the current trend of Turkey growing more distant to NATO and the EU and growing more close to Russian and Iran all signal that the stage is being set for the Russian, Iranian, and Turkish alliance mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39 that will attempt to invade Israel in the last days and get smoked by a judgment from heaven.

The third class of prophecies being fulfilled involve the steepening upward trajectory for social-political control mechanisms that are being employed to funnel mankind down the path that will lead to the antichrist, his cashless society, his anti-God agendas, and his mark. These control mechanisms include Big-Brother government employed on the plea of protecting its citizens, restrictions of freedoms, inability to travel or enter stores without a mask or proof of vaccination, cashless transactions, transhumanism, microchipping, surveillance and tracking technology, shaming of Biblical morality by the media, and the rise of militant leftism. All of these controls play an important part in preparing the way for the antichrist and his ability to force the entire world to accept his mark or be banned from participating in society in fundamental ways like buying and selling. These controls will all largely be in place by the time of the rapture of the church. The man of sin will be able to step into a ready-made system that he can exploit for his anti-God agenda, taking the world even deeper into the abyss of ungodliness.
