Demolishing the Prewrath Rapture

I recently gave a presentation on the errors of the prewrath rapture at the Homeward Bound Conference in Colorado Springs sponsored by Prophecy Watchers. The reception and feedback was so positive that I have decided to share it with my newsletter family. The link in this letter leads to a web article that includes my slides and my notes for the presentation.

Does it really matter when the rapture happens? Does it make any practical difference whether the rapture happens before the tribulation under the antichrist or after it? The answer to this question depends on the perspective we are viewing the question from. Are we viewing it from the perspective of salvation? Then the rapture question is relatively unimportant. Prophetic views have no bearing on whether a person is saved or not. Are we viewing it from the perspective of foundational devotion to the Lord? Then again the rapture question is relatively unimportant. There are many devoted believers in the non-pretribulational camps.

But when we take up the question of the rapture from the perspective of how we handle and interpret Scripture, then the question is of paramount importance. The twin peaks of premillennialism and pretribulationism form the great watershed divide between those who interpret prophetic Scripture literally  and those who interpret it figuratively. The figurative camp is experiencing a great resurgence in popularity in our day, the full blown replacement theology of the amillennial camp and the partial replacement theory of the prewrath rapture camp. Any time you can look at a passage featuring law-keeping Jews and regard it as featuring the church, you have indulged the spirit and practice of replacement theology.

This study presents a wealth of arguments and information—39 slides with copious notes—that will be helpful for interactions with family and friends who hold the prewrath rapture, or perhaps for your own wrestlings with the question. The presentation starts with six fatal arguments against the prewrath rapture, then demonstrates where the reasoning behind their rapture theory goes wrong, that is, showing that locating the rapture during the seventieth week after the opening of the sixth seal and prior to the opening of the seventh seal is based on two mistakes.

May the Lord bless all of you immensely as you seek to grow in his word, his will, and his ways.

Eyes wide open, brain engaged, heart on fire.
