Patience With One Another

Although we all fall sadly short
Of any righteous standard,
With weaknesses of every sort,
Yet no one should be slandered.

One acts too soon, and one too late,
And some have strange conventions.
Their labors we appreciate
And praise their good intentions.

One talks too much, one not enough,
One laughs at things he shouldn’t;
One spends more time on useless stuff
Than others think is prudent.

These things are faults we want to mend,
Both in ourselves and others,
But they’re no reason to pretend
We’re better than our brothers.
