Sheep and Goats

Matthew 25:31-46

The Lord, when He comes in His glory and light,
Puts goats on His left hand and sheep on His right,
Dividing the gentiles by how they received
His own chosen people, the Jews who believed.
He’ll say to the ones on the right, “You are blessed,”
Because they gave aid to the Jews when oppressed.
To those who abused them, the verdict’s reversed;
They make up the goats on the left who are cursed.

What’s done to His brothers is done to the Lord
And justifies what men receive for reward.
The treatment of Jews at the time of the end
Divides the true sheep from the ones who pretend,
For only believers will take Israel’s side
Against the rebellious and Jew-hating tide.
In turbulent times, God will fill them with love
That only the Spirit is capable of.

The ones on the left have the mark of the beast;
Their lamps don’t have oil; they’re not dressed for the feast.
The promise of God has no worth in their eyes;
His people, His plans, and His word they despise.
They heard a clear gospel from angels and men
But didn’t receive it and weren’t born again.
Their actions reveal where their loyalties lie
And prove that they’re goats justly sentenced to die.
