1 Samuel 17
When David heard Goliath shout,
It brought his inner warrior out.
Though still a youth, unused to war,
He couldn’t stand the giant’s roar.
With monstrous pride, Goliath roared
Against the armies of the Lord.
He blasphemed as he shook his spear
And made the soldiers quake with fear.
But David knew where power lies.
On God above he fixed his eyes.
His spirit burned with righteous zeal
That worldly people couldn’t feel.
His brothers didn’t understand
And set about to reprimand
The only one who had it right
And had the readiness to fight.
Young David took some stones he found
And swung his shepherd’s sling around.
He let his simple missile fly
And struck the giant near the eye.
Goliath fell. He lost his head.
The enemy of God was dead.
Give us, like David, bravery
To not put up with blasphemy.
