The days of earth are evil,
Our trek, an upward climb,
And in our short-term travels,
We must redeem the time.
What’s not redeemed is wasted,
And every moment lost
That’s put to worldly pleasures
At everlasting cost.
Though all things are permitted,
Not all are for the best.
We choose whatever’s useful
And set aside the rest.
God’s given us discernment
To choose the way we should,
To test what we encounter
And hold to what is good.
So let’s pay close attention
To what is going on
And choose our steps with wisdom
Before the chance is gone.
For time is sweeping past us
And won’t accept a truce.
Let’s grab the fleeting moments
And put them to good use.
