In Christ united, we partake
Of bonds that none of us can break.
We have some differences of thought,
Some different customs and whatnot.
Although we often disagree,
The Spirit seals our unity.
In Christ we can’t be torn apart,
Our names are written on His heart.
The unity we have in Him
Can’t be undone by human whim.
Our childish fights and petty pride
Disturb our peace but can’t divide
The essence of the life we share
Or null the Lord’s high priestly prayer.
Though none of us deserves our place,
We’re joined in Jesus Christ by grace.
God knows the weakness of our kind,
Yet teaches us to share His mind.
Although we keep on falling short,
He bears with faults of every sort.
Let us, His people, do the same
And so live up to Jesus’ name.
In this we’re all of one accord:
Christ Jesus is a gracious Lord.
