Jehovah Rophe, The God Who Heals

The Names of God, Part 8

How foolish when we fear the path
      Where God our Savior leads!
He’s not appointed us to wrath;
He vows to meet our needs.

He promises to be our guide
      And stay until the end.
His Comforter is by our side
      To diagnose and mend.

He makes the bitter waters sweet,
      He makes the hammer swim.
Whatever snags we travelers meet,
      The answer’s found in Him.

The answer is in God who heals,
      Who makes the broken whole,
Who first His holiness reveals
      And then redeems the soul.

Redeemed in Christ, by faith we turn
And find that He is love.
His perfect gifts that we can’t earn
      Come down from God above.

So far above the earthly tricks
      That men and demons play,
He has the competence to fix
      The troubles in our way.

Though troubles, like a spark when fanned,
      Fly upward from our birth,
God’s goodness and His healing hand
Still guide our path on earth.

Our troubled path will soon be past,
      When God restores all things.
As King of kings, He’ll come at last,
      With healing in His wings.
