The Names of God, Part 2
The second chapter in the book, Praying the Names of God by Ann Spangler is “El Roi, The God Who Sees Me.” The name is used only once—by Hagar when she fled from Sarai’s abuse, and God met her in the wilderness.
He sees me, and He understands.
He knows my deep distress.
He’s not complicit in the plans
That put me in this mess.
Although God’s people sadly failed
To treat me like they should,
The One who knows it all prevailed
And taught me God is good.
My situation still is hard.
Abuses could recur,
But God who sees will be my guard
And help me to endure.
